After years of maintaining industrial wastewater plants, we see the same three groups of mistakes at almost every site.
1. Not tracking sludge indicators
Mixed liquor suspended solids and the sludge volume index need periodic measurement. Skipping this lets the biological tank drift out of balance unnoticed until the effluent breaches the limit.
2. Dosing chemicals by feel
PAC and polymer dosage must follow jar test results for each water batch, not one fixed figure all year.
3. Skipping the operations log
The log is the only record for tracing an incident. Recording flow, pH, chemical consumption and pump run hours shortens troubleshooting considerably.
